One of the greatest pleasures of walking out this Christian life this side of heaven is we don’t do it alone.
We are part of a bigger family that God creates. A family that is not restricted by race, age, or bloodline.
We are called to do life together. To strengthen one another in times of discouragement, pain or loneliness. To mourn with each other and to rejoice with each other.
Sometimes we become Jesus with skin on to give a blessing and oftentimes others become Jesus with skin on to give a blessing to us.
On this particular Saturday I set out to do my grocery shopping. As I walked into the store the flower display was right at the front. When I glanced at them, I felt my heart well up with pain. I particularly was drawn to the baby pink roses, my favorite.
You see, I am a romantic at heart. I had loved receiving flowers from my husband. They made my heart leap when he would hand them to me with a hug and an I love you.
But, I was on a solo journey now and the flowers were a reminder of that.
I whispered to the Lord how I missed receiving flowers and an ache in my heart pounded as I made my way through the aisles. I wiped the tears away as I gathered my things. No one knew. No one saw.
But God did.
Not only did He see, but He was about to do something about it that would utterly surprise me.
The next day was Sunday. I went to church like I usually do. I was surprised when one of our young people, a young woman about 25 years old came up to me with something behind her back.
She said, “Yesterday, I was at the store and the Lord told me to get these for you.” Out from behind her back she handed me a dozen baby pink roses. I can’t make this stuff up if I tried.
I can only imagine how wide my eyes got. How did she know? I didn’t tell anyone. Nor had this young lady ever given me a gift before.
I was astounded.
Only God knew my heart. He was the only one I whispered it to. But, today He let me know out loud that He heard and He saw and here are the flowers your heart wanted.
It was a miracle for me.
How in the world would she have known and when I asked her why she bought the baby pink ones and she said, “Those are the ones the Lord said to get.”
I share this story with you to encourage your faith journey. God knows when your heart aches. He hears every whisper of pain you tell Him about.
He is a good Father and He desires to give you good gifts.
Life is full of seasons. Sometimes those seasons require us to walk solo for a while.
No matter what season you are in know this, you are part of a larger family when you belong to the Lord. You don’t have to journey alone.
Tell the Lord your heart and ask Him for things only He would know. Let others be Jesus with skin on to be a blessing to you. Watch Him prove His Love to you in ways that will make your heart burst.
I believe in you,
Love, Barbie
