Finding Holy Ground in Hard Places

Remember the story of Moses in Exodus 3:5 when he suddenly sees a bush on fire, but it is not being consumed?

The Lord speaks to Moses in that moment and says, “Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals. For the place on where you are standing is holy ground.”

Why do you suppose that place was holy?

I believe it’s because the presence of the Lord was being shown to him in a place and situation that was defying nature. He was displaying His Splendor to Moses and in that moment, Moses was to respond with a respect by removing his sandals.

Why do you suppose God choose his sandals to be removed?

Honestly, I don’t know. I guess He could have asked Moses to remove just about anything or perhaps to change his body posture and lie prostrate.

We don’t have to be on a mountain like Moses was for the presence of God to show up in our lives and ask the same of us.  Remove “____________” for the place where you are, is holy.”

By removing your own thoughts and opinions about how something is supposed to happen in a given situation and instead listening intently to the Lord, you will encounter peace beyond your wildest imagination.

That peace is most costly and soothing to my soul. It’s costly because I have to surrender, laying down my pride and reasoning to even get close to it.

When we practice His presence, we will sense He is always right there with us speaking to us even in the darkest of places. Places of confusion where we don’t understand. If you wait on Him long enough you will see the burning bush metaphorically transforming your hard place into holy ground.

Concentrate instead on the common ground of His Word. This amazing Bible are His promises to you, a great burning bush of His Presence lighting your way into a future yet unknown to you, but not to Him.

Set your tone. We all may be flawed and opinionated, but in those places of stillness in His Presence if we lean into Jesus with a fresh surrender, that surrender becomes a holy tool of transformation.

I believe in you,

Love, Barbie
