What Do You Want?

Jesus really does care about what your heart desires. He is a good Father who delights to give good gifts to His children.

Psalm 20 4:7 says, “May He give you the desire of your heart.”

So, what is the desire of your heart?

There are a couple of men who stood out to me because they were approached by God and asked that formidable question. I believe it was recorded because of their response.

The first one was the blind man in Mark 10:51. Jesus approached him and asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”

It was obvious to everyone there what this man wanted. He wanted his sight. But Jesus asked him the question anyway because he wanted the man to verbalize his desire and present it to the Lord.

Jesus can be trusted with your deepest desires so go ahead and verbalize it.

The second one was King Solomon. His story is recorded in 1 Kings 3. Interestingly, God approached him in a dream and asked him the same question, “What do you want me to give you?”

Solomon could have asked God for anything.

He told God, “I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.” He felt thrust into a position as king that he felt completely uncapable to perform.

So, he asked God to give him the ability to perform his job. He asked for a discerning heart and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong.

God was so impressed with his answer that he gave him more than the wisdom he desired. He added on wealth and honor too.

God was listening more to the character of his deepest heart’s desire because He knew Solomon could have asked for long life, wealth, and the death of his enemies.

But he asked for the ability to perform his destiny.

That question remains an open door to each of us.

If God asked you that formidable question today, how would you answer Him?

What do you want me to do for you?

He longs to fulfill your desire and grant you the capability to perform your destiny too.

What are you asking God for?

I believe in you

Love, Barbie
